Delhi .... not so far away
Connected with 35 international airlines with rest of the globe – spread on the banks of Yamuna is a coming together of Old and New times with its ancient monuments juxtaposed against the new citadels of modernity. It is a city of monuments – the air we breathe is full of the dust and fragrance of the past like Jawahar Lal Nehru said. The power and glory of Delhi’s pageant of rulers are reflected in these monuments which have survived through the centuries.

Old Delhi known as Shahjahanabad in Mughal times, is the most prominent of the city's earlier seven avatars, was built in the 17th century.

The British succession in power in 1803 brought a natural alternative to Delhi, which had a special place for Hindu and Muslim traditions. Under the British Raj in 1911 Delhi was designated capital of the British India and after Independence in 1947 it is still the political seat of secular India.

Delhi currently is a very cosmopolitan city due to the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural presence of the vast Indian bureaucracy and political system, and now expanding economic base.
